2019 June Annual Meeting and Club Championship
June 2-7, 2019 | Cape Cod, Massachusetts
We had the pleasure of welcoming a spirited group of The 200 Club members for our June Annual Meeting and Club Championship held on Cape Cod in Massachusetts on June 2-7. As you will see below, our members enjoyed a week full of golf, entertainment and camaraderie like we have never seen before. It was truly a special way to kick off the summer season.
Throughout the six-day experience, we enjoyed a quintessential Cape Cod experience complete with a lobster feast, ocean and beach views during cocktail hour and rounds of golf at three of the most highly regarded Bay State golf courses in Oyster Harbors Club, Cape Cod National Golf Club and Eastward Ho!.
Congratulations goes to John Foster for capturing the 2019 Club Championship. The victory was especially meaningful as John was victorious on his course of Cape Cod National Golf Club.
Our deepest appreciation also goes to Tom Zusi for his dedication and outstanding year serving as captain. We all look forward to welcoming John Lahey who will serve as our next captain
Here is a complete recap of our amazing experience.
DAY 1: Upon arrival, we enjoyed cocktails and then a delightful meal on the Garden Terrace of Wequassett Resort & Golf Club, a luxury resort hideaway nestled in the elbow of Cape Cod. The grilled beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection, and many of us treated ourselves to the New England themed soft baked maple cheesecake.
DAY 2: Following a leisurely morning breakfast, the golf competition began for the men and ladies at Eastward Ho! Country Club, a seaside links course considered to be Herbert Fowler’s most “engaging 18-hole design in America”. Click here to read more about this incredible golf course. The day concluded with cocktails and a traditional lobster bake at the Beach House located within the Chatham Bars Inn.
DAY 3: The second round of golf was featured during our third day as the men and ladies took part in 18 holes at Cape Cod National Golf Club, an 18-hole championship golf course located in Brewster which opened its doors in 1998 and instantly was regarded as one of the top courses on the Cape. Special thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors and members who attended our business meetings that evening at the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. Following the Annual Meeting, our members feasted on a seafood extravaganza on the Terrace in and the Bay Room of Eastward Ho! Country Club.
DAY 4: Every trip includes a day when members can take part in organized tours specifically designed to provide insight and experiences into each unique location. This year, many members took part in a tour to the Cape Cod National Seashore and then to Provincetown. The experience concluded with a stop at Art’s Dune Tours for a dune ride, where we traveled through the Peaked Hill Bars Historic District Sand Dunes. Special thanks to our knowledgeable tour guide, who opened our eyes to a region which has inspired so many including the finest artists and writers of our time. Upon our arrival back at the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club, we were able to regale each other with stories from the day during a casual but spirited dinner at the Outer Bar and Grill
DAY 5: Our final day was spent playing a third round of golf for both the men and ladies. This third round was played at Oyser Harbors Club, a Donald Ross gem that is regarded as one of the top courses in the world. The highlight of the day was no doubt the hole in one scored by John Loftus on Oyster Harbor Club’s 3rd hole. We then said our goodbyes with a wonderful Closing Dinner at the Garden Terrace of Wequassett Resort & Golf Club.
The weather was amazing, the company was simply perfect and the host sites could not have been more accommodating. Thank you to those who opened their doors to us this week and especially to those who joined us for the June Meeting. The great Paul Harney once said that “golf brings great people together”. We could not agree more with that statement.
Here are just a few photos from our trip as we look forward to the next time we are all together
